Puberty?

Well, I was cleaning Christian's room....I found several pages torn out from magazines with women wearing bikini's and bra and panties....Isn't this kinda soon? Hubby had a talk with him about it, got him to admit he liked the girls and was curious. Where did my baby go? He is only 11!
I told dh we oughta put up a poster of a girl in his room (fully clothed) and see what he does...he would probably hate it. Could you picture a mary kate and ashley picture on his wall...LOL.
I am guessing I have to hide my people magazines now. :-(

Church and Retreat

Posted by Picasa Last weekend my sister and I went to a womens retreat (two day event) at my church. It was called "The Ultimate Makeover
By: Sharon Jaynes." It was great. I came away feeling spiritually refreshed. Like I had a bit of a revival. There was a point in the retreat, where she had us write down things that hinder us spiritually (unforgiveness, low self esteem, fear, etc) So, on an index card, we wrote down the things we believed we had problems with, and we went up to the front of the church, and nailed our cards to a wooden cross. I cried as I was walking up there, it was a place I could say, ok Lord, here they are, I am nailing them to the cross, I am letting them go. So, now anytime those issues arise in my life, I need to remind myself...I nailed them to the cross.

Sunday at church, we finally got to hear the preacher for the first time (guest speakers each time we visited before). It was awesome, we love the pastor. He preached on effective prayer. He was telling us about Abraham praying for Lot. He also told us that Lot, at first, had pitched his tent toward Sodom, and then the next time he is mentioned....he is living in Sodom! His point was that as Christians, we tend to "pitch our tent towards Sodom." We have little sins in our life, that as Christians we know we shouldn't be doing, but they seem minor...then before you know it...we are smack dab in the middle of Sodom!

Anyhow, his point on Abraham praying for Lot, was that it worked, Lot was saved from the destruction of Sodom, and later in scripture it refers to Lot as being a godly man. So, the prayers of the godly are much effective. We have a card that we wrote 7 peoples names on, we are supposed to pray for them 7 minutes a day, 7 days a week...the thing we are doing is called 777:a prayer experiment. I haven't written my names down yet, but I am going to.

When we left church sunday morning, I asked my husband if he was ready to become a member of First Baptist Church of Middleburg! I am thrilled....we now have a church we love. :-)

Update

Posted by Picasa With the 23rd of this month close by, I am often thinking about my mother. For those of you who don't know what I am talking about: Mom died last September at the age of 50 from lung cancer. I miss her so bad, but I do know I have that blessed assurance that I will see her again one day.

I am worried about my dad though, he is smoking three packs of cigarettes a day! I think he is trying to kill himself with it. He also told me today that he has no purpose in life and didn't care really if he died. Please pray for him. I don't know what to do other than that.

I pulled out my neck/back yesterday, well, I woke up with it hurting saturday morning...by saturday night, I couldn't hold my neck up without almost wanting to cry. Right now I am on pain pills which are helping alot. Please pray it heals quickly. I cant' sleep right now because I slept all day today to manage the pain.

I am really bored most of the time. I really wish God would send me some Christian/godly women to be friends with. I don't drink or party, that is just not me, and I want to find someone to hang with and fellowship with that loves our Lord. So, I am praying for it. My sister lives about 15 miles from me, but she is generally to busy to come over and visit.

I really am missing my best friend, Marie, she lives in Virginia beach, I havent seen her since the summer of 2005...a few months before Mom left us. I am also praying to see Marie soon, she always lifts my spirits. (:0)

Well, I guess that is all for now, I need to try to get some sleep.

God is working....

I have started a bible study, and I am really getting alot happier, reminds me of my days as a new christian. I love learning new things about Gods word. Did you know that that bible says that the earth is round….before we actually discovered it?! Amazing. I am doing the bible study called “believing God.” So far, I love it. This past Wednesday, my sister, Christina, went with me…I hope she comes every week with me, I enjoyed having her there.

I had a really nice weekend. Saturday, my husband set up a spa day for me...yup, and it was no special occasion, they asked me several times at the day spa if it was my birthday or something, and I kept telling them no, my husband just wanted to do this for him. It started out with a one hour facial...it was nice, they cleansed my face, did aroma therapy stuff, massaged my face, eyes shoulders arms, hands, fingers...it was real relaxing, there was calming music, dimmed lights....I felt so pampered. But it didn't end there, I went on to my one hour swedish massage....the lady hurt me a few times, but other than that it was great....I was hurting by the night though...lol...I felt a little bruised. Then after the massage, I got a manicure and pedicure. I got to sit in a nice massage chair with a warm thingy on my neck while another lady did my feet for about 45 mins. Then got my nails done. Then, on to my hair, I got it washed, trimmed and permed, then to finish it off, I had my eyebrows waxed...I definately don't recommend doing that last, after all that relaxing and pampering, to have hot wax on your eyes and then your eyebrow hairs yanked out...ouchie! If there is a next time, I will ask them t do the eyebrow thing before all the nice massages. I think I was there nearly 6 hours. I told my dh not to tell me how much it cost because then I wouldn't have enjoyed it all. I can tell ya, it felt so weird having all those ladies taking care of me, wanting to get me something to eat or drink....something a mom could definatley get used to. ;-)
The lady who did my feet and nails told me what church she went to, First Baptist of Middleburg, so we tried it out today. WE LOVED IT! I am 99.9 percent sure we have found our church home. It reminds me so much of our church back in Virginia. Anyhow, just thought I would update and share my joyful weekend. Posted by Picasa

Well, we went to another church this week, Shindler Drive Baptist. I am not sure if it is the church for us. I loved the pastor and his sermon, but the praise and worship left little to be desired. It was a much smaller church than we are used too, we are used to at least 3,000 membership, and a full choir and orchestra. I sure hope God puts us where he wants us soon, I miss our first Church, I guess we hold all other churches to that standard, which makes the church hunt that much harder. Please pray for us to find the right church for our family. Posted by Picasa

I'm sending these graphic pictures of overdose victims not for shock value, but rather in the hope that you will have a frank discussion with friends and family about respecting moderation, understanding limits, and knowing when to just walk away. Remember . .
